Consul General's Message

Dear Visitors,

Greetings from the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Mumbai !

It is with much delight and eagerness that I launch the official website of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Mumbai, thereby effecting another successful step towards the always flourishing relationship between India and Bahrain.

It was immediately after independence in 1971, that the Kingdom of Bahrain came up with this Consulate General’s office in Mumbai. In the past 36 years of its existence, this office has constantly been an active facilitator between the growing bilateral relations between India and Bahrain – the first point of contact for reasons of trade, employment and other cultural exchanges through inter-marriages and education opportunities.

Through the years, the traditional friendly relationships between India and Bahrain were marked by exchange of high-level visits and close interaction between the private sectors of the two countries. To begin with, His Highness Shaikh Isa Bin Salman AL-Khalifa, the late Amir of the State of Bahrain paid a state-level visit to India in 1981, followed by the Summit Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in New Delhi held in 1983. After which there have been then significant high-power delegations to and from Bahrain.

Indo-Bahrain relations took a new turn following the historic visit of the Bahraini Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to India in early 2004, during which he expressed Bahrain’s keenness to increase co-operation in economic, trade and investment with India. This was further confirmed by Bahrain’s significant resolution of opening its Embassy in New Delhi. The same was formally inaugurated on 21st March 2007 by His Highness Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad AL-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defense Force in 2007.

The basic objective of Bahrain’s foreign policy has been to contribute to world peace, security and stability and to promote the harmonious progress of the entire international community. India too has always been keen to support other nations to encourage their integration and integrity to fulfill the aspirations and ambitions of their people and foster international cooperation. Such approaches have earned the Kingdom of Bahrain and The Republic of India international praise and appreciation.

In view to increase cooperation between the people of these two liberal nations, this website has been launched. Through this website, we aim to provide you, not only with the necessary details for visas to Bahrain and export documents legalization; but also relevant information on Bahrain helpful for various segments of Indian public. In addition, the support team at this Consulate General’s office is always here to provide you information, advice and guidance, whenever needed.

Confident that the new society will substantially contribute towards the centuries-old relationship between both the countries, and take it further to newer horizons, I look forward to your fraternal support and cooperation
.

Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Khaja
Consul General
